Heroes of our Faith

People love a good super hero story and the Bible is full of them. This six week series takes a look at heroes who set examples for us in the way we should live our lives.

July 7: "Daniel" by Kyle McClain

In Daniel 1:1-16, Daniel would not eat the royal food and he was healthier for it.  When he was older, he continued to pray to God even though it meant a death sentence in a den of lions (Daniel 6:1-28).  Daniel was faithful to God and God rescued him for it.  No matter what is thrown our way, we should not compromise our standards but seek and please God!

July 14: "Paul" by Kyle McClain

Saul persecuted the early church but Jesus had other plans for him.  In Acts 9, Saul was on his way to hunt down Christians when he experienced Jesus in a real way.  Saul received the Holy Spirit and made a 180 degree transformation.  Changing his name to Paul, he went on to preach the gospel to the gentiles, taking several missionary journeys.  He suffered for the name of Jesus and wrote 13 of 27 books on our New Testament.  We have three major lessons we can learn from Paul:

  1. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom.
  2. There is always hope for someone still living to come to Christ.
  3. God can use ANYONE.

July 21: "Everyday Heroes" by John Tullis

Colossians 4:7-17 describes some everyday heroes of the faith.  We can all have super powers when God is involved - we only need to have a willingness to use what God has given us and let Him use us in extraordinary ways.

July 28: "David" by Kyle McClain

No matter how much bigger or stronger Goliath was, David had faith that God would deliver him.  No Israelite warriors were willing to face Goliath, but we see in 1 Samuel 17 that David's faith convicted him to act.  This is an important lesson for Christians - let your faith convict you to act differently.

August 4: "Esther" by Kyle McClain

Esther used her position for the good of God's people.  We, likewise, should be using our positions to serve God and His people.

August 11: "Josiah" by Kyle McClain

King Josiah demonstrates in 2 Kings 23 how we need to deal with sin in our own lives.  Identify, eliminate, replace!
